Helpful Sites to learn about Child Neglect

www.chapinhall.org – website of the Chapin Hall Center for Children,  a research institute of the University of Chicago focused on problems facing children.  An excellent source of statistics and studies concerning children in foster care, including a number of studies focused on current and former foster children in Wisconsin.

www.CASAnet\library  – part of National CASA website for programs and volunteers.  Contains many background articles and links on social work, medical and legal issues relevant to child abuse and neglect advocacy by CASA volunteers.

www.AZCASA.org – Arizona CASA statewide website.  Features downloadable and  online training modules and examinations to test your knowledge of court procedures (some are Arizona-specific), mental illness, substance abuse and family dynamics.

http://dcf.wi.gov/- official webpage for children and youth programs  of the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families.  Links to a broad array of child welfare information and governmental social services for children throughout Wisconsin.

www.casey.org/Resources  – website of Casey Family Programs, a national leader in providing and improving foster care.  The Tools and Resources section includes myriad studies and publications on foster care reform, offers free online assessments for foster families, and the It’s My Life curriculum to prepare youth to age out of foster care. 

www.connectforkids.org – designed to equip child and youth advocates with tools for child advocacy on the local, state and national level, and to help child advocacy organizations reach a broader audience. 

www.childadvocacy.com – an international collection of news clippings, articles and postings for professional and volunteer child advocates worldwide.

www.aacap.org – website of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  Check the Resources for Families section for user-friendly materials on ADHD, a glossary of psychiatric conditions and their symptoms, updates on psychiatric medications and children, and mental illness statistics for children and youth.

www.futureofchildren.org  - a collaboration of  Princeton University and the Brookings Institution.  Research-based information for use in policy advocacy on children’s issues.
