Fostering Hope Packages

Many children enter foster care with little more than the clothes on their backs. A Fostering Hope package gives a child something to call their own while waiting for a placement. This program gives abused and neglected children a book, a toy, personal hygiene items and a little hope in their own new duffel bag. Consider putting together a package for a child in need. The lists below are some ideas to get your started on your Fostering Hope Packages. You should include what you feel is best. 

For Older Children and Teens

  • Duffel bag or backpack
  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, brush, comb, shampoo, hair products and feminine products)
  • Pajamas
  • Diary or journal
  • Gift cards to a grocery store, Walmart or Target
  • Stamps, stationary and envelopes
  • Pens, pencils, notebooks and other school supplies
  • Age appropriate books
  • Baseball hat, jewelry or accessories
  • Socks and underwear

For Younger Children

  • Formula, diapers, wipes
  • Cuddly stuffed animals
  • Pajamas
  • Blankets
  • Games, toys, puzzles
  • Coloring books, crayons and drawing paper
  • Socks and underwear
  • Night light
  • Age appropriate books

Other Needed Donations

We partner with individuals as well as corporate, civic and religious organization volunteers to support vulnerable children through donation drives. Volunteers have hosted donation drives to collect holiday gifts, winter coats, hats and gloves, art supplies for therapy, school supplies and so much more. Learn more.

Can I include items not on the list? 

Yes! All items must be safe and age appropriate. Feel free to be creative. 

Can I include a note? 

Yes, it’s okay to personalize the bags by saying something special. 

What do we do with completed packages? 

Please call us at (414) 344-1220 or send an email. It may be best to drop off the packages at our offices, or they may be able to be delivered directly to a child welfare site. 

Can my group put together packages? 

Definitely! This is a great project for groups. Children or teens can also lead a “youth to youth” donation drive. 

Can I donate items without putting together packages? 

Yes. Please contact us regarding any items you’d like to donate.
